Dehydration and Heat Stress Can Impact Workplace Safety

When workers perform intense physical activity, especially in a hot environment, they are in danger of dehydration as they perspire. Once they become dehydrated, their bodies are no longer able to cool themselves and become subjected to heat stress. At its mildest, heat stress impairs a body the same way alcohol or a lack of sleep does, causing a decline in employee productivity and performance. More severe cases of heat stress can lead to headaches, light-headedness, and loss of consciousness, as well as other severe (and potentially fatal) complications.

By monitoring environmental factors (ambient heat, oxygen levels) and biological data (body temperature, heart rate), SafeGuard provides workers with a preemptive line of defense against heat stress and dehydration.

Keeping Your Lone Workers Safe

In an ideal work environment, the workers have each other's backs. However, some jobs require workers to be alone for extended periods of time. This lack of supervision can put them at higher risk in the case of accidents, medical problems, or other unexpected emergencies.

SafeGuard provides a means to remain in constant communication with lone workers, including location tracking and automated check-ins. In addition, SafeGuard's environmental and biological monitoring can help identify and eliminate potential issues proactively.

Avoiding Catastrophe in Confined Spaces

When working in confined spaces (tunnels, wells, trenches, storage tanks), workers may be subject to a number of hazards, such as dangerous gases/vapors, limited oxygen, flammable gases/liquids, or becoming trapped in a collapse/cave-in.

SafeGuard monitors ambient temperature, air quality, and the presence of combustible/poisonous gases to ensure you’re aware of any potential environmental hazards. In addition, our platform keeps track of workers’ locations, movements, and biological signs and keeps you in constant contact so you can be sure they’re safe.
